Lawn and Garden Month this April

lawn and gardenWarmer days mean only one thing. Spring is here, and with it all the excitement of the new season.

Although spring officially begins on March 21, the first full calendar month of spring is recognized as lawn and garden month. The old adage says that “April showers bring May flowers”, indicating that this is the month to prepare your flower beds and gardens for the coming months.

But for those of us who do not have a lawn – or own a piece of property that we can freely dig up at will – lawn and garden month may go unnoticed. That is, unless you get a little bit creative, and celebrate the coming of spring in innovative ways. Stadium Flowers would like to offer some suggestions for everyone who loves spring, but needs to create a garden in a slightly unconventional space.

  • Consider rooms with lots of sunlight – like a glassed in patio – to become your greenhouse.
  • Utilize creative elements to design your indoor garden. From baker’s racks to watering cans, plants can be arranged on – or emerge from – surprising places.
  • Succulents need less water and care, but provide for interest and long-lasting indoor beauty
  • Use portable or removable garden implements, like a shepherd’s hook, to display hanging plants along the walkway to your front door. They can be moved or removed easily when you are ready to take them down.

By designing numerous “mini-gardens”, you can decorate your home easily with items that have meaning or significance to you. Arrange lush green plants in Dad’s old suitcase, or plant vibrant daffodils or tulips in your Grandmother’s tea kettle. Container gardening allows you to meld your home’s décor and your personal history and style – and results in indoor gardens like no other. Not sure where to begin? Stadium Flowers has a wide selection of pre-designed dish gardens and containers to get you thinking. Ask us for the best spring florals, from azaleas to violets – we have them all.

Whether you celebrate lawn and garden month by cultivating acres of property, or by placing a terrarium on your kitchen windowsill, Stadium Flowers is your one stop flower shop.
